Abstract

The traditional divisions between knowledge and action, theoretical and practical knowledge, and between epistemic and practical reasons have been put into question within contemporary epistemology. The aim of this project is to examine the validity of these distinctions with respect to three main issues: i) in what consists the difference between “Knowing how” and “Knowing that” and to what extent is there a difference? ii) What are the relationships between evidence, knowledge and justification? iii) To what extent are knowledge, justification and evidence affected by pragmatic constraints?
