Die Sonneneinstrahlung auf die Erde ist der Energielieferant für die Erdatmosphäre und damit die wichtigste Randbedingung für die Temperatur der Erde und das Klima. Obwohl seit 1978 bekannt ist, dass auch die Ausstrahlung der Sonne variabel ist und auf den verschiedensten Zeitskalen mit verschiedenen Amplituden ändert, ist der Einfluss der Sonne auf das Klima noch nicht völlig verstanden. Die Gründe für die Problematik beim Verstehen der Prozesse liegen einerseits an den Klimamodellen, die nicht alle relevanten Prozesse berücksichtigen und dadurch nur limitierte Aussagekraft haben, und anderseits aus den grossen Unsicherheiten bei der Messung der Sonneneinstrahlung.

In dem Nationalfonds Projekt verfolgen wir eine neue Methode vor um die Sonnenstrahlung zu erfassen, in der man aus der solaren Radiostrahlung, die an verschiedenen Wellenlängen gemessen wird, das ganze Sonnensprktrum rekonstruiert. Aus der Stärke und Verhältnissen der Radiostrahlung wird es möglich sein, die verschiedenen Beiträge der ruhigen Sonne, Sonnenflecken und Fackeln zu erfassen und damit, mit Hilfe von Modellrechnungen, das ganze Spektrum der Sonnenstrahlung zu rekonstruieren. Der Beitrag dieses Projekts ist es die theoretischen Modelle der verschiedenen solaren Komponenten zu verbessern um eine genaue Rekonstruktion des Sonnenspektrums aus den Radiobeobachtungen zu ermöglichen. Um die Methode zu testen, werden wir aus den Messungen der Toyokawa and Nobeyama Observatorien, die synoptische Beobachtungen der Sonne in den Wellenlängen 1.8 cm, 3.2 cm, 8 cm, 15 cm, and 30 cm seit 1951 durchgeführt haben, das Sonnenspektrum seit 1951 rekonstruieren. Diese Rekonstruktion werden wir mit anderen publizierten Rekonstruktionen vergleichen, was ein Urteil über die Tauglichkeit der Radiomethode für die Echtzeit-Überwachung der Sonne ermöglichen wird.

The solar radiation is the main source of energy input to the terrestrial atmosphere and forces Earth’s thermal balance and climate. Although it has been known since 1978 that the solar irradiance is not constant but varies on different time scales, the influence of the solar irradiance variability on the climate is not yet fully understood. The reasons being on one hand difficulties in including all relevant processes into climate models, and on the other hand large uncertainties in solar irradiance reconstructions and measurements. Therefore, monitoring of the solar irradiance as well as creating tools for reconstruction the solar irradiance remains a task of high importance.Here we propose to explore a novel method for reconstructing the solar irradiance based on simultaneous measurements of radio flux at several wavelengths. These radio flux measurements can be used to decompose the solar activity into relative contributions from spots, faculae and the quiet sun. Such decomposition will, in turn, allow us to reconstruct the entire solar spectrum for the periods for which radio measurements are available using the theoretical knowledge of the entire solar spectrum for each component. To reach this goal, we need to improve and adjust the theoretical simulation tools, and we will adjust the physical structure of the solar reference atmospheres for non-active and active components in the transition zone up to the lower corona to reproduce the observed solar radio emission. We plan to test our algorithm employing the synoptic observations by the Toyokawa and Nobeyama observatories available at 1.8 cm, 3.2 cm, 8 cm, 15 cm, and 30 cm since 1951 and calculate a reconstruction of the solar spectrum back to 1951. The reconstruction based on the radio emission will be compared to other published reconstructions of the Spectral Solar Irradiance and to available measurement of solar irradiance in the optical and UV wavelength, in particular, to the data from the experiments built by PMOD/WRC, i.e. LYRA/PROBA2, PREMOS/PICARD, and VIRGO-SPM/SoHO as well as SIM+SOLSTICE /SORCE
