Lay summary
A research in the field of unified theories of fundamental particle interactions, including gravitation, in the context of supersymmetric field theories, supergravity and superstrings. We aim at developing several aspects of these speculative descriptions of the fundamental laws of Nature, with both a formal and a phenomenological emphasis. A first project is related to detailed studies of string compactifications, with very general backgrounds, using either an effective, bottom-up, approach based on supergravity gaugings or using world-sheet and extended-torus methods and concepts.A second project is to construct the nonlinear realizations of supersymmetry at work in superstring models with branes. These structures are relevant to understand the vacuum state and in general the physics of the light states present in these models.Further researches include applications of gauge-gravity correspondences and non-.perturbative phenomena in supersymmetric field theories with chiral matter. One may expect that some of the features of the theories under study, and especially the relevance of supersymmetry in very high-energy particle physics, will be experimentally tested at LHC, CERN, after several years of data collection.
