Lay Summary (English)

Lay summary
The project combines coordination the organometallic chemistries. We have focused on the development of new ligands containing two tpy metal-binding domains that are linked by flexible or rigid spacers. The central motif of each new ligand is a rigid platinabis(alkyne) unit containing trans-alkynes and trans-trialkyl- or triarylphosphines. The reactions of the new ligands with metal centres such as iron(II) lead to polymeric or metallomacrocyclic species. We have investigated the effects of systematically varying (i) the steric bulk of the phosphine units, and (ii) the length and flexibility of the spacer between alkyne and tpy domains. Following from the platinum centred ligands, we have prepared a series of gold(I) centred species.
