This actual project aims to create a very specific and fascinating range of TTF-incorporated molecular building blocks that either can be combined to obtain conducting compounds exhibiting also magnetic properties, or along a further line, that can be taken to construct a variety of new D-A systems for studying in depth photo-induced electron and energy transfer as well as the photogeneration of long-lived charge separated states. Moreover, of particular importance in this context is the investigation of the electronic communication in such D-A supramolecular systems, also in response to some external stimuli, as well as the study of their potential applications in molecular electronics and optoelectronics. We also believe that such D-A systems can play a crucial role in an approach to high-efficiency solar energy conversion.
