Among all agricultural products high food losses occur for potatoes which comes to about 30% of total production in Switzerland. However, it is not known to which extend these food losses could be reduced across the food supply-chain. Quality standards as defined by retailers have a major influence on food losses. Furthermore, the coordination between the actors of the food supply chain has a significant impact on losses. The aim of POM-Q is to assess the influence of different quality standards on food losses and to identify sustainable supply-chain formations which would contribute to a significant reduction in food losses.
