Lay summary
The photochemical behaviour of polymers containing -N=N-X- functional groups is investigated by spectroscopic techniques. Surface modifications during laser ablation are characterised by XPS measurements. These novel photoresists are used for rapid prototyping of micro-optical elements. In the second part of the project, glassy carbon materials are structured by laser irradiation. The ablation process is characterised by time resolved emission spectroscopy of the ablation plume. Prototypes for bipolar plates to be used in next generation fuel cells will be realised by this technique.
