The Pauli Center for Theoretical Studies is jointly organized by the Institute of Theoretical Physics at ETH and the Physics Institute at the University of Zurich. It aims to foster teaching and research in theoretical physics and related areas in the Zurich area. The purpose of the Pauli Center is to bring scientists from all over the world to come to Zurich, to interact with local scientists, and to enrich the graduate education. More specifically the Pauli Center organizes thematic programs, conferences and workshops. It also invites scientists to come to Zurich for collaborative visits and to teach graduate courses. Topics that will be covered are mathematical physics including string theory, astrophysics and cosmology, particle theory, condensed matter physics, computational science and quantum information theory. In this proposal we outline activities involving visitors from abroad who are specialists in these areas.The Pauli Center has organized on average eight to nine workshops or conferences a year from its reorganisation in 2008 until 2012; last year, due to the severe budget cut by the SNF, we could only fund 5 conferences. The center has also hosted a large number of high profile visitors, see http://www.paulicenter.ch/ for an account of past, present and future activities. We have twice been reviewed by our international advisory board, and both reports have attested that the center runs very successfully.
