Lay summary
Carlo Salvioni (Bellinzona 1858- Milan 1920) was an outstanding scholar inthe field of Romance Linguistics at the turn of the century. He madefundamental contributions to the discipline, e.g. description of moderndialects, especially those of Northern Italy and the Italian-speaking partof Switzerland, philological study of Old Italian texts, historicallinguistics and etymology.
His impressive work, however, has been mostly published in form of journalarticles. This circumstance has negatively influenced the reception ofSalvioni's writings in present-day research. This project intends toprovide a comprehensive edition of Salvioni's linguistics works, to becompleted by a commentary and indexes, which will make it accessible to alarger public.
